Bingle Beats What constitutes a curveball release for Timedance is for sure a difficult one, but here we are. Bruce's freaked out production sensibilities meet indiesque pop vocals on what promises to be a stand out release for Batu's always forward facing & exciting label that feels like an inevitable sequel to the tail end of the feverish previous release from Metrist

about

Timedance is incredibly excited to be presenting this new project from Bruce. After releases on Hessle Audio, Hemlock, Dnuos Ytivil and more, as well as collaborations with Bambounou and Lurka, Bruce takes a compelling turn, showcasing a new venture into future-sounding-electronic vocal pop.

This twist in the Bristol producer’s career embraces his incredible talent in constructing labyrinthine yet captivating melodic narratives and stories. Bruce’s newly unveiled vocals take the reign on a journey of masterfully crafted layers of production, tying the knot between years of club-focused, forward thinking artistry and an exhilarating new way to push boundaries within his music.

The five songs that almost feel like a debut are inhabited by love, found and lost, intimacy, exploration of the self and the following transformation that inevitably follows. Both the approach to emotional heights, nuanced story telling within re-invited pop music structures, and a taste for experimentalism, harks back to the great David Sylvian or icon-iconoclast Scott Walker; Bruce’s work feels animated by the same desire to find comfort in risk, sitting at the edge of both darkness and light.

His efforts are in tow of all things otherworldly about mutagen electronic dance music. From anthemic to intimate moments, this EP stands as the perfect way to once again, enter the world of Bruce. This time much closer to the bone, soaked in a dappled light, of a shade we have not yet encountered.

about

Bruce Bristol, UK

Larry McCarthy creates postmodern rhythmic drama at the burning intersection of UK dance music. His music operates at all speeds without any predictable formula. Some tracks stutter and thump with cybernetic power; others flutter and glide in poignant shades of blurring colour. It’s a fragmented, low-frequency meltdown, evocative shimmers of light emanating from the cracks. ... more
